There will be a ballot issue concerning the use of the state surplus. As I read the proposal, please tell me if you definitely support, somewhat support, somewhat oppose or definitely oppose the issue.

Spend $1 billion of state surplus revenue over five years on construction of highways, transit, K-12 schools and higher education buildings instead of refunding the money to taxpayers. Any additional state surplus above the $1 billion would be refunded to taxpayers.

Definitely support 53%
Somewhat support 19%
Somewhat oppose 5%

[If definitely or somewhat support] The total refund from the state surplus to families of two taxpayers could reach $2,000 over five years. If the referendum to spend part of the surplus passes, the refund to taxpayers will be reduced. For example, the average taxpayer will receive a refund of about $200 next year from the surplus. If this referendum is approved, the average refund will be reduced to about $125. Do you still (definitely support/somewhat support) [response in SS30] putting a portion of the surplus into roads, transit and school construction instead of providing a full refund to taxpayers?

Political Effect

President Clinton has recently campaigned to raise funds for fellow Democrat candidates in state and federal races. If President Clinton campaigns for Democrat candidates this fall, will it make you more likely to vote for the Democrat candidates in the November elections, make you less likely to vote for the Democrats or have no effect on your vote in November?
