Clinton-Romer Approval Rating - Denver Metro Survey
600 Residents
March 4 to March 10, 1998

Clinton's 63 percent job approval rating in Colorado echoes his high marks across the nation. His "favorability" rating, which measures more general impressions of a political leader apart from just his job, comes in much lower at 48 percent.

Romer scored a 68 percent job approval rating and a 54 percent favorability rating. The poll was conducted by Ciruli Associates, a Denver-based polling and public policy consulting firm.

Coloradans appear to be following the national trend, in which the public separates sex scandal allegations from a politician's work.

Locally, Romer's admission in February that he has had a 16-year extra-marital relationship created shock waves, but produced little backlash against the popular governor. However, the number who rate Romer as "unfavorable" or "very unfavorable" has increased since the admission (18 percent in January; 29 percent in March).
