Ciruli Associates Poll

Democratic National Convention a Winner for State

Analysis by Floyd Ciruli
August 14, 2008

Sixty-eight percent of Coloradans believe the Democratic National Convention will be good for the state according to a new survey from Ciruli Associates.  Of the 550 registered voters polled statewide, 78 percent of Democrats and 76 percent of unaffiliated voters said the convention will be positive for the state.  Republicans were more skeptical, with only 55 percent believing it will be a boost for Colorado.

“In spite of the controversies surrounding the organizing and funding of the convention, Colorado voters appear to be upbeat that the convention will be good for the state,” said Floyd Ciruli.

Democratic National Convention Good or Bad for Colorado?

Question: Do you believe that holding the Democratic National Convention in Denver the third week of August will be good for the State of Colorado or bad for the state?

The latest statewide survey was conducted August 2 to 6, 2008, with 550 Colorado voters likely to vote in November by Ciruli Associates.  The voters were selected by random sampling from a statewide list of registered voters maintained by the Colorado Secretary of State.  Interviews were conducted in Spanish when needed, and on either the voter’s landline or cell phone.  The statistical margin of error is ±4.2 percentage points.  The survey was conducted for publication on www.ciruli.com, and will be used for analysis by Floyd Ciruli during the Democratic National Convention week.
