  • The region also consists of the greatest number of total square miles.

  • The region has the smallest percentage of public lands (6%) and the greatest amount of private lands (7.9 million acres).

  • Of the top ten counties with the largest amount of prime farmland acres, six are in the Northeast Plains Region: Kit Carson (2), Yuma (3), Morgan (4), Logan (7), Cheyenne (8), and Phillips (9).
