Other notes about the region:

As of the last agricultural census, the Northeastern Plains Region had the largest number of farms in Colorado.

The region also consists of the greatest number of total square miles.

The region has the smallest percentage of public lands (6%) and the greatest amount of private lands (7.9 million acres).

Of the top ten counties with the largest amount of prime farmland acres, six are in the Northeast Plains Region: Kit Carson (2), Yuma (3), Morgan (4), Logan (7), Cheyenne (8), and Phillips (9).
